West Valley City, Utah, is a suburb of Salt Lake City and the second-largest city in the state. This beautiful city is home to around 130,000 people. It’s a popular place to live for its healthy economy, great school district, and safe neighborhoods. Known for the Utah Grizzlies ice hockey team and the USANA amphitheater, there’s plenty to do in West Valley City. The history of the city began when Joseph Harker crossed the Jordan River with his family in 1848.
Harker came to what is now West Valley City, attracting more pioneer families who left Salt Lake City to cross the river. Together, they began the farming communities that are now Hunter, Granger, Redwood, and Chesterfield. Over the next 100 years, the city’s residents improved the area, including paving 3500 South in 1918, the first bank in 1956, and the first school (Granger High School) in 1958. The city officially received its incorporation in 1980. Today, West Valley City, Utah, is a great destination for working professionals and families alike.
